On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Centre for Natural Resource Governance (CNRG) joined forces with the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Hwange District Development Coordinator’s Office, and local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women leaders in the field of natural resource governance.
The event was aimed to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in transforming industries, protecting ecosystems, and empowering communities.
The theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March 2024 was “Invest in women: Accelerate progress” #InspireInclusion. International Women’s Day serves as a global platform to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. In Hwange, the day was marked with a special gathering that brought together women leaders, activists, and community members who have been instrumental in driving progress in natural resource governance.
The event showcased the inspiring stories of women who have made significant contributions to the sustainable management of natural resources in Hwange. These women leaders have demonstrated exceptional vision, expertise, and determination in their respective fields, paving the way for positive change and creating a more equitable and sustainable future.
During the celebration, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and success stories. Discussions, interactive sessions, and networking activities fostered meaningful dialogue and collaboration among attendees.
