People’s dialogue with Traditional leadership and the Zvishavane – Shurugwi community

As part of the build up to the Midlands People’s Convention to be held on 1 August 2019, Centre for Natural Resource Governance, in partnership with the Midlands Natural Resources Agenda and with the support from Rosa Luxemburg Foundation,  will hold a people’s dialogue with Traditional leadership and the Zvishavane – Shurugwi community on Friday 5 July at Chief Nhema’s court. The public meeting is expected to be attended by 10 chiefs and more than 300 community members whose livelihoods have fallen victim to Chinese-led extractivism in the region. The public meeting seeks to initiate dialogue among community stakeholders on how mining is affecting them. Submissions from the community and traditional leaders will inform the agenda of the 1 August Indaba where mining companies and government agencies will be invited–
